Diagnostic Imaging (12/16) reported that research suggests “the availability of screening mammography varies considerably among racial groups, particularly for women who are black or Hispanic.” The findings were published in the Journal of the American College of Radiology.
Aunt Minnie (12/16, Yee) reported that investigators found, “in a literature review...that black and Hispanic women get screened less often than white women, particularly those in the age groups of 40 to 65 and older than 65.”
According to the Radiology Business Journal (12/16, Davis), “The findings...are disturbing to researchers looking for ways to reduce the number of women being diagnosed with the cancer.”
