Use of Breast MRI by Surgeons May Be Influenced by Practice Style of Their Peers, Study Suggests

Aunt Minnie (5/18) reports that research suggests “the use of breast MRI by surgeons is influenced by the practice style of their peers.” The study “suggests that the practice of medicine is affected by a concept called social contagion, which has been studied in the field of sociology and refers to how ideas, attitudes, and behaviors spread.” The findings were published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
