Beginning on July 24, 2017, the ACR will implement the 2016 ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual into the accreditation process. Facilities who chose to use the 2016 ACR Digital Mammography Quality Control Manual may submit phantom images obtained with the ACR Digital Mammography Phantom and QC results using the new manual for accreditation of their 2D full-field digital mammography systems.

Aunt Minnie (7/12, Yee) reports many primary care physicians “are ill-equipped to discuss” mammography with their patients, according to a study published in the Journal of Women’s Health. The article points out that several medical organizations offer differing recommendations to women concerning when they should undergo mammography.
Diagnostic Imaging (7/10) reports that research suggests “breast density has only a minor impact on radiation dose during mammography examinations.” Investigators “determined that it was breast thickness that was the primary determinant of dose.” The findings were published in The Breast Journal.
