Professional Bio
Dr. Slanetz is Professor of Radiology at Boston University School of Medicine. As a practicing breast radiologist at Boston Medical Center, she provides breast care to the most vulnerable patients in the city as part of a multidisciplinary team. Her clinical research interests lie in healthcare disparities, evaluation of imaging technologies in breast cancer detection, and artificial intelligence. Her past work contributed to the adoption of breast MRI and digital breast tomosynthesis for routine breast cancer screening. Her educational interests focus on curricular development and assessment including the development of entrustable professional activities (EPAs) related to breast imaging. To date, she has over 200 publications and has given over 100 regional and national presentations. She currently serves on the Editorial Executive Committee of Academic Radiology and is a distinguished reviewer for Radiology, American Journal of Roentgenology, Journal of the American College of Radiology, and Journal of Breast Imaging. As Vice Chair of Academic Affairs in the Department of Radiology at Boston Medical Center, she oversees faculty development and faculty and leads the Early Career Faculty Development Program for the Boston University Medical Campus. In her role as Associate Program Director for the residency in diagnostic radiology, she oversees the training of 40 residents and has mentored over 80 students and trainees. Nationally, Dr. Slanetz is Chair of the SBI Mentorship Committee, Subspecialty Chair of the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria Breast Imaging Panels, President-Elect of the Association of University Radiologists, and Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Radiological Society. She is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, Society of Breast Imaging, American Association for Women Radiologists, and Association of University Radiologists.
