SBI Live Webinar: Demystifying Method of Detection (MOD): A Case-Based Approach

Tuesday, August 19, 2025
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM (EDT)
Category: Webinar

Accurate assignment of the Method of Detection (MOD) is a straightforward yet impactful practice that supports standardized reporting, enhances data quality, and has the potential to strengthen early detection efforts and improve outcomes across diverse clinical settings. This webinar will demystify MOD through a case-based discussion format led by Manisha Bahl, MD, FSBI and EJ Langman, MD. Attendees will learn when and how to assign MOD prospectively, how to navigate gray zones in clinical practice, and how MOD can be incorporated into imaging reports.

Using real-world examples and FAQs compiled by the ACR’s Screening and Emerging Technology Committee, the presenters will illustrate how consistent MOD assignment can inform population-based research, reduce disparities, and contribute to more effective cancer detection strategies. This webinar will include live Q&A from the audience.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the concept of method of detection (MOD) and explain its significance in breast cancer diagnosis and reporting.
  2. Apply standardized MOD categories to real-world scenarios.
  3. Recognize how consistent MOD assignment contributes to national data quality, equitable screening outcomes, and emerging research initiatives.
