Stamatia Destounis, MD, FACR, FSBI, FAIUM

Stamatia Destounis, MD is a fellowship trained breast radiologist and Managing Partner at Elizabeth Wende Breast Care (EWBC) in Rochester, NY a multisite facility in Upstate NY specializing in breast care since 1975 where she has been practicing breast imaging for 32 years (1993) after completing her Breast Imaging fellowship.
Dr Destounis became a Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) Fellow in 2010, an American College of Radiology (ACR) Fellow in 2010, and an American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) Fellow in 2017.

Dr. Destounis was appointed Chief of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Commission on Breast Imaging in 2021, and Chair of the ACR Commission on Breast Imaging in 2022. She has served as Chair of the ACR Breast MRI Accreditation Committee, as a committee member and Chair of the ACR Breast Ultrasound Accreditation Committee, Chair of the ACR Breast Economics Committee and Chair of the Mammography Writing Sub-committee for the BIRADS Atlas Sixth edition.
She is the current Chair of the ACR Audit Committee. She is on the ACR Board of Chancellors and on the Executive Board of the New York State Radiological Society (NYSRS) and a member of the Mammography Committee for NYSRS. She serves on the Board of the organization Densebreast-info.org.
She is the Chair for the Breast Sub-Committee of the RSNA Annual Meeting Program Planning Committee and the Past Secretary of the RSNA Research and Education Foundation Board on which she served for 6 years as a Board member. Dr Destounis also serves as Chair of the RSNA Public Information Committee.
Dr. Destounis is a reviewer for several peer-review journals and is the Deputy Editor for the journal of Academic Radiology and the Breast Sub-Specialty Editor for the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.
