SBI Webinar - Missed Breast Cancers
e-Learning
Despite advances in breast imaging, missed breast cancers remain a significant cause of delayed diagnosis and can adversely affect patient outcomes. This webinar reviews the imaging features of commonly missed breast cancers across various imaging modalities, highlighting perceptual and interpretive pitfalls that contribute to false-negative examinations. Through illustrative case examples and evidence-based discussion, participants will learn practical strategies for systematic image interpretation, multimodality correlation, and recognition of subtle imaging findings. The session aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy, reduce missed cancers, and improve confidence in the detection and management of breast malignancies.
Presented by: Laura Dean, MD and Shaista Afzal Saeed, MBBS
Learning Objectives:
- Identify subtle imaging features of breast cancers that are commonly missed during image interpretation.
- Recognize common perceptual and interpretive pitfalls that contribute to missed breast cancer diagnoses and apply strategies to minimize these errors in clinical practice.
- Implement a systematic approach to breast imaging interpretation that reduces false-negative examinations and enhances early breast cancer detection.
